5 of the Simplest Ways to Improve Brand Awareness

3 Mins read

You can have the greatest product in the world. You can have world-class service and an inspiring mission to give 100 percent of your profits to charitable organizations. You can have a powerful team of enigmatic founders who are equal parts ethical and compelling. You can have all of that – but if your brand isn’t reaching the right people, it’ll all be wasted. Because at the end of the day, you need brand awareness and visibility in order to be successful.

5 Brand Awareness Boosters

Building brand awareness requires a multi-faceted approach, but here are several good options to help you get in front of more of your target audience.

1. Ensure You’re Mobile-Friendly

Data shows that 96 percent of consumers use their mobile devices when searching for local businesses. Overall, nearly 60 percent of all internet searches are carried out on a mobile device. (In certain industries – like food and beverage – it’s more like 72 percent.) So if you want to reach people, you have to be optimized for mobile.

The good news is that optimizing your web presence for mobile is easier than ever. Responsive web design has taken most of the heavy lifting out of the process and made it as simple as tweaking a few elements here and there.

But in addition to getting the design right, you have to pay attention to elements like speed. Approximately 40 percent of mobile searches are abandoned if a page takes 10 seconds or longer to load. And rarely will a visitor return when there’s a bad user experience.

2. Invest in SEO

There are a variety of ways to generate traffic on your website, but the most sustainable and cost-effective option is via search. And in order to create a steady flow of search traffic, you must invest in search engine optimization (SEO).

SEO is basically the process of telling Google what your website is about and optimizing your pages in ways that align with their preferred best practices. This gives you credibility in the eyes of the search engine.

You can try SEO on your own, but it’s time-intensive and technical. You’re better off hiring a local SEO service. For example, if you’re in Long Island, you’ll want to hire Long Island SEO services.

3. Try Guest Blogging

This is technically part of a good SEO strategy, but because it’s so important we’ll set it apart. Guest blogging – which is the process of contributing content to another website or blog – is excellent for (a) building backlinks to your website and (b) generating brand visibility in front of a new audience that you otherwise wouldn’t have the ability to reach.

4. Be Active on Social Media

With your website, you have to find ways to funnel traffic back to your site. (We’ve discussed a couple of these approaches above.) But there are plenty of off-site ways to generate website traffic, too. Social media is one of them.

Most brands think they have a social media strategy, when all they actually have are social media profiles. To benefit from social media, you have to generate engagement. The best way to do this is by focusing on quality over quantity. You’re much better off putting all of your energy into a single platform – like Facebook or Instagram – than giving some of your focus to multiple channels.

5. Leverage Influencers

In addition to slowly building and nurturing your own social media following, you can accelerate the process by leveraging influencers.

Social media influencers are people who already have a captive and engaged audience and could (potentially) generate positive exposure and brand visibility for your business. When selecting influencers, make sure to partner with individuals who align with your brand values and have an audience that overlaps with your own target audience. This will ensure that you’re putting your brand in front of the right individuals – e.g. those who are most likely to convert.

Drive More Traffic to Your Brand

You can’t build a successful business without traffic. Thankfully, there are more ways to generate traffic than ever before. The key is to focus on the right strategic investments so that you can maximize your resources and accomplish more with less. The hope is that this article gives you a sound place to begin.
