The Importance of Getting People to Open Emails Can’t Be Overstated

When you’re running a blog, one way of keeping your followers up to date with your latest posts and information is by giving them the opportunity to subscribe to your mailing list. Ultimately, we want more readership and we want our blogs to be successful, but if your carefully crafted emails aren’t exactly creative, or remotely interesting, then you’re not only wasting your own time but your readers too!

You may be surprised to know that the average email open rate is 29.4%, although it varies by industry. If your email open rate is lower, then you may want to make some changes to your campaigns.

So, what’s the solution? How can entice your subscribers to actually open your emails? Read on to find out more.

Be wary of errors

Emails that are scattered with errors, numerous grammatical mistakes and even those that are filled with self-plagiarism, don’t exactly look professional. If you want to keep your readers interested, consider using a proofreading tool and check for plagiarism with a plagiarism checker. When you produce weekly or monthly emails that are error-free and have some real effort put into them (not just copied and pasted old material) then your subscribers are much more likely to click on your emails. Not only that, but your readers will actually begin to anticipate your weekly/monthly updates and look forward to them!

Talk to your subscribers

There’s a subtle difference between talking to your subscribers and talking at them or even generalising them and referring to them as your “subscribers” or your “list”. These are people who want to hear from you, so speaking to them on a personal level is a much better approach. You don’t have to tailor hundreds of individual emails, just write as if you’re speaking to one person and then send to all. It’s the personal touch that will get you more subscribers.

Give your readers something

Ok, so you’re hoping your readers will head over to your YouTube account and subscribe or you’re wanting more people to follow you on Instagram. Whatever you want, you have to offer your email readers something in return. Whether it’s advice, an opinion, a low down of your favourite skin products right now – don’t just email them asking for things! Give them something for their time!

Learn from others

The best way to create awesome emails is to see how the experts do it. If your favourite influencers have a mailing list, join it and analyse how they create and peak the interests of their readers. What made you open that email? It is something you could recreate in your own way? Remember that plagiarism won’t do you any favours!

Keep them short

No one wants to read through reams and reams of online text. Especially if they’re opening your email on their lunch break or when they have a spare couple of minutes. Keep it short and to the point!

Make it personal

You want your readers to trust you, and you want to build a strong relationship with your followers. Include images that haven’t been posted on any of your other social media platforms. Include additional videos or content that’s not been seen before. Offer a “backstage” look at your life! The more “real” and relatable you are, the more likely your readers are to trust you.

These Tips Will Boost Your Email Open Rates!

There are a lot of things that you need to do to get more value from your email marketing campaigns. You should follow these tips to increase your open rates. You will see a strong increase in your ROI.
