2 Mins read

Marketing your business can be one of the most difficult things that you have to do. You know that your target audience is out there, but how do you reach them, and make them interested in your brand and your services? When you’re a small business, with a limited budget, this can be increasingly difficult, as you just don’t know where you should be spending the cash.

Here are 5 marketing tips, that could help your small business to reach the heights.

#1: Learn how to sell your business in 5 minutes

When you’re a business within a smaller community, and you’re trying to spread the message about your brand, you need to be able to do so in 5 minutes. Whether you meet somebody in the line at the store, or you’re in the classic ‘elevator pitch’ situation, you need to know how to sell your company to others, in a short and exciting way. Think about this, so that you’re always prepared.

#2: Trust word of mouth

For small businesses in particular, word of mouth is one of the best marketing techniques out there. You need to ensure that you’re providing the best service to your customers, so that they recommend your business to their friends and family members, which can increase your customer base significantly. Give people a reason to bring your company into conversation (a good one).

#3: Use SEO to boost your online presence

When you type into Google what your small business offers, and the location – for example, ‘bookstore East Village’ – what comes up at the top of your search engine? If it isn’t you, then you need to look into some SEO companies, to see whether you could move yourself up the pages of Google so that your customers can find you more easily. This will be greatly useful for your online presence.

#4: Sponsor a local event

If you really want to make an impact in your local community, then sponsoring an event could be a good idea. Whether it’s a soccer match or a music event, people will see your brand all over the stadium, and maybe even on the shirts of the players. This will spread interest in your brand locally, and it will also mean that you’re investing in helping your community to grow, which is pretty great.

#5: Utilize Facebook and other social networks

Social platforms are great if you want to find your target market, and send out ads that will appear on their timelines. It’s a good idea to carry out some A/B testing, to see what your target audience actually is, and so that you’re ultimately not wasting too much money as a small business by sending out your ads to the wrong people. Use social networks wisely, and you’ll be glad that you did.

So, if you want to market your small business, then keep these 5 tips in mind. You should be able to get your brand out there, without splashing too much cash on making it happen! Good luck!
